Graphic facilitation is the act of using text and images to visualy represent a conversation. In real time, a mural-size drawing is "scribed" at the front of the room. As the conversation develops, the graphic faciliatior utilizes a variety of skills including listening, thinking, and drawing to synthesize the dialogue.
Through visual learning, this process aids in critical thinking, decision making, and strategic planning. It focuses and engages groups as they work. |
Participants see their thoughts mapped out as they express their ideas. It helps the team to align around and clarify concepts.
After the event, the scribing is photographed and made into jpegs like the images below. The scribing gives life to a presentation and conversation that carries on long after participants have left. It is a powerful tool that not only triggers memories of the content but also the experience of the conversation. |
